Chief Bola Ahmed Adekunle Tinubu has been declared as the new President and Kashim Shettima Mustapha as the Vice President of Nigeria after the 2023 Nigerian presidential election held on February 25, 2023. As the most populous country in Africa, the election has significant implications for the country and the wider continent. Concerns about violence and political instability arose as the incumbent APC President Muhammadu Buhari was unable to seek re-election. The election occurred amidst growing dissatisfaction due to rising insecurity and economic challenges that are now in the hands of these leaders. Federal elections for the House of Representatives and the Senate also took place on the same date, while state elections are scheduled for March 11. The inauguration of the winners is slated for May 29, 2023, which is the former date of Democracy Day.
